GidiFest is an annual festival in Lagos, Nigeria created by Eclipse Live Africa to satisfy the urge of Nigerians who were tired of being cramped in the halls of our conventional centers and want a live and free experience. Five years running, they’ve done this back to back expanding their line up every year to stage Nigeria’s best, performing live and they’re back again this year for their fifth installment with a few changes and a broader spectrum of music to give to an ever hungry crowd of Nigerians seeking the thrill of seeing their best acts perform.
This year’s show will take place March 30, with the host deciding to move to a new location Hard Rock Cafe Beach Front, (which is the new venue and is a lot smaller than the previous). They’ll also have two stages this year as opposed to the one they’ve had previously, the main stage will feature headlining acts Wizkid, & 2 Face as headliners with supporting performances from Maleek Berry, YCee, Mayorkun, Brymo, SDC, Adekunle Gold, and AYE!
They’ll also have a Next GEN stage which aims to spotlight the new generation breaking into the music scene, with acts like D-O, Tay, Odunsi, Jazz, Lady Donli, Remy Baggins, D Truce, Maka, and LOS.
Last year was a great event with the artistes giving their best while drenched in the rain, this year seems poised to be a more controlled and handled experience, which is why I suspect this installment was moved to a smaller venue. The introduction of the ‘Next Gen’ as they call it, will add some much-needed diversity to the festival roster. As they’ve done in the past GidiFest, they will add a few names to the set list as the event draws closer.
Tickets are currently on sale via their website with the general admission going for N5000 and N20000 for VIP Tickets.
