5 of our favourite collections from Lagos Fashion Week

Lagos Fashion Week for years has focused on collaboration, community and co-creation. They use these pillars to create ways that will engage the African fashion ecosystem with the end goal of generating a lasting impact.

This year’s #LFW welcomed designers and fashion enthusiasts, who came from far and wide to witness the show. With the initiation of ‘Green Access’, it established a sustainable fashion accelerator to groom young designers.

With talented designers and exceptional works of creativity on show, we were spoilt for choice, however, we compiled a list of five of our favourite collections from the 4 day event held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Gëto

Gëto’s ‘IBERU,’ featured a combination of luxury and contemporary aesthetics. The collection examines typical fears and converts them into designs.

Fears explored in this collection include Trypophobia (fear of clusters), and can be seen in the clusters of fabric gathered in the intricate drippings which is prominently displayed in the graphically coded print designs used throughout the collection.

Jermaine Bleu

With its theme, HARMONY, Jermaime Bleu delivered great designs by combining vibrant colors using rich palettes. It’s safe to say, Bleu was not afraid to play with colors.

Lulla Studio

The collection was named {LULL}LESSNESS. It gave a striking acknowledgment to Yoruba Culture and lightened it up with vibrant colors.

Kadiju

Kadiju graced the stage to officially start the show and the collection showcased its evolution since the early stage of the brand. Kadiju’s mission was to stay true to its original colors and style.

Algueye Dakar

Featuring on the #LFW for the first time, Dakar brought Senegalese heritage to Nigeria. It had striking silhouettes with rich palette colors.

Lagos Fashion Week ended the four-day event with a red carpet show tagged #TheStreetsAtLagos22.
