Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite is a Nigerian medical doctor turned finance expert and public administrator, currently serving as Minister of State for Finance. Before joining the Federal Government, she built a distinguished career in banking and served as Commissioner for Finance and Coordinator of the Economy in Imo State. In 2023, she was appointed Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment, and in late 2024, she assumed her current position. Dr Uzoka-Anite steered a remarkable year of national and global economic engagement and reform leadership. As Minister of State for Finance, she was Nigeria’s lead representative at key global forums, including the 2025 World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings, where she articulated the government’s macro-economic and health financing reforms aimed at strengthening Universal Health Coverage financing and expanding fiscal space for critical sectors. Domestically, she played a central role in Nigeria’s aggressive macro-economic reform agenda. Uzoka-Anite was also instrumental in the passage and implementation of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, a landmark framework designed to recapitalize the sector and integrate it into the global green finance market. She also continued to strengthen government-private sector collaboration through initiatives such as the Government-Private Sector (GPS) Dialogue Series, designed to align financing strategies with SME growth and investment priorities. Her achievements reflect her strategic role in shaping fiscal policy, enhancing Nigeria’s presence on the global economic stage, advancing public-sector reform, and championing inclusive development.
