Temple T Speaks Yoruba in the Heights of Her Songs — And It Works

Ibeh Patience Udochi, professionally known as TEMPLE T, is a southeastern Nigerian record producer, DJ, songwriter, and composer. Temple T is popularly known for her ability to blend Afrobeat, house music, and Amapiano with electronic rhythms – a blend sometimes described as Afro-House or Afropiano.

Temple T is also credited as the composer and writer of her first project – Temple Vol. 1, which is a 2-track project that undulates between moments of calm and euphoria. From listening to this EP, it would seem that Temple T borrows from South African influences as regards her production; however, she keeps her writing close to home, preferring to communicate in Yoruba in heightened moments of the songs on the project.

The EP, which contains two songs, “Bajeola (DJ Edit)” and “Dance,” was released in March 2023 and was produced by Queen Halima and DJ Amash— two producers she eventually collaborated with as a composer two years later. She is credited as the composer for a single independently released January 15, 2025, by Queen Hamila (Ogechukwu Victoria Egbogu) – “MELAKUSI (DJ EDIT)” which is an electronic Afro-House and Amapiano fusion.

These are three records that showcase her songwriting skills and ability to blend genres effortlessly. Her works are built on fusing African rhythmic traditions with global club culture, shaping it to become both culturally embedded and internationally minded. Temple T has proven her eligibility to become a global music sensation driven by her fierce passion for electronic Afro-house & Afropiano music.

Beyond her work as a composer, Temple T represents a growing generation of Nigerian creatives who are redefining what it means to write “African” music for a global audience. Rather than diluting her roots to fit international sounds, she folds them in, letting Yoruba phrasing carry the emotional weight of a track even when the production reaches toward Amapiano’s South African swing or house music’s European club roots. It’s this instinct, to stay culturally rooted while reaching outward, that positions Temple T as a distinct creative voice steadily building a signature within Africa’s electronic music renaissance.

Her performances in events across the West Midlands and shows as Sincerely Bxnx, Bxnx Live, and Chike live at the Troniq Fest in Lagos are nothing short of phenomenal. Her signature stag leg shakes and energetic performance at the Troniq Fest in Lagos got the crowd going and kept them on their feet.
