AFROPUNK Music Festival which happens yearly in Paris, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Johannesburg is a 13-year-old festival for black people all over the world, engaging an influential community of young people of all backgrounds interested in music, art, film, lifestyle sports, fashion, photography and more.
Afropunk is simply defined as ‘a defining culture by the collective creative actions of the individual and the group. It is a safe place, a blank space to freak out in, to construct a new reality, to live your life as you see fit while making sense of the world around you.’
This year’s Johannesburg edition will be a two-day festival happening on the 30th and 31st of December, 2018. The festival since it’s inception in South Africa has been growing into one of the anticipated festivals yearly for the country This year’s show will feature headline guests like, Los Angeles’ future R&B superstars The Internet, Thundercat, experimental electronic music from Flying Lotus (debuting for the first time his 3D show on the African continent), Eccentric dance music producer/artist Kaytranada and Legendary rap group Public Enemy, and supported by other South African such as BCUC, YoungstaCPT, FAKA, Moonchild Sanelly, Thandiswa Mazwai, among others.
