Kenya Airways, RwandAir, Air Tanzania, Air Madagascar, Air Mauritus and Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc, are names of the African airlines that have recently announced they’ll be suspending all flights to China due to the Coronavirus.
The virus outbreak has killed more than 200 people in China, spread to 18 countries and has infected at least 8,000 people. The World Health Organization declared the virus last week Thursday a global emergency as it spread to more countries.
“We have temporarily suspended all flights to and from Guangzhou starting Friday until further notice”
Kenyan Airways said in a statement.
China’s deadly coronavirus is spreading internationally. Here’s what you need to know.
Other airline carriers outside of Africa, including British Airways, have also suspended flights to China due to the virus.
These country’s government have advised their citizens against any travel to China.
However, Africa’s biggest airline Ethiopia Airlines announced they will still continue flights to the five Chinese destinations it currently flies to.
We hope other African countries follow this path too.
