Bella Shmurda’s sophomore project ‘High Tension 2.0’ is a purposeful quest into the life of the Afropop singer

After a successful breakout since dropping his first project ‘High Tension’––a 7 track body of work that featured blockbusters including Vision 2020, Omnipotent and Vision 2020, Bella Shmurda has gained a handful share of the Nigerian music market share, gaining love from the streets and cool, and landing more hits and features from A-list artists.

In what Pulse NG describes as a feel-alike of Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ but for the Nigerian streets/mainstream, the Dangbana Republik superstar has just released his sophomore project, a sequel of the first titled High Tension 2.0. The project is the precursor to his first debut album due for early 2022 and it amplifies the singer’s vulnerabilities, his growth and evolving consciousness track after track. all together, the project is a fusion of his signature street sound resonating purposeful messages, with his touch of dancehall-inspired delivery.

Bella Shmurda defines ‘High Tension 2.0’ as ‘new light in new form’. He adds that it is ‘high voltage lightening that strikes against all odds’ from a star that cannot be stopped from shining. This powerful imagery symbolises his journey in music so far and echoes the creation process of this incredible EP. As a ‘pandemic project’, Bella felt empowered to create a diverse body of work with no features and the result is truly electrifying.
