Falz Immortalizes #ENDSARS Protesters In New Music Video

/

It’s been a crazy last few weeks following the #EndSARS protest, especially following the Lekki massacre 3 weeks ago. It could feel like the momentum of the EndSARS protests has reduced but there’s still a lot going on behind the curtain to keep the conversation going on. Regardless, young Nigerians and creatives haven’t given up on raising their voice and speaking up against the terrible government and how they rule.

Nigerian musician & lawyer Falz was one of the most active voices, lending his platform and audience towards fighting for the people and supporting the #EndSARS protest. Yesterday he lending his art, releasing a music video for his new song ‘Johnny’ one of the standout tracks from the socially conscious tape he released last year, ‘Moral Instruction’.

The Afro hip hop track infused with a sample from “J.J.D. (Johnny Just Drop) by Fela Kuti tackles insecurity and reckless killings in Nigeria. The music video aimed at immortalizing the victims of police brutality and those who we have lost.

The video which was directed by OluTheWave, features footages of police brutality and killings as well as footage from the #EndSARS protests. The singer also included footage from the Lekki Toll shootings, as well as videos of victims of police killings, and their families.

Dedicated to our fallen heroes. #EndSARS. Justice must be served. Every single person responsible for these gruesome acts must be brought to book. It’s time to get our PVCs ready. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.

At the end of the video, Falz wrote in a statement.
