Back in July, we reported that two global music streaming giants, Audiomack and Tidal had officially launched services in Nigeria. While there was an official announcement from Audiomack’s HQ informing the public of its new hires and office in Lagos, not so much was gathered of Tidal except that the app was now available for download in android and iOS stores.
A few weeks after, in what feels like the official consolidation of their presence, the company has now announced a partnership with one of Africa’s largest communications provider MTN Nigeria. This new development will enable millions of users across the country enjoy unlimited music with affordable and time-based subscriptions––a three day access which costs 120 Naira and a monthly access for 800 Naira. Tidal subscriptions can also be bundled with MTN mobile data purchases monthly access with data is 1,200 Naira.
While nobody is exactly sure about what Tidal is up to, one thing is clear, they understand the market and they will take a much time as they can, as long as they grab a nice slice of the fast developing Nigerian market.
