After concluding a pop-up for his Starboy merchandise in NY and U.K, he’ clearly on a wave pushing the culture forward with the launch of his new collection of jerseys with sportswear brand Nike. This deal will make Wizkid the first African artist to have his own official jersey. Nike seems to be striking gold first with the Super Eagle’s World Cup kit in February, Wizkid was one of the people they enlisted for inspiration during the design process and now the StarBoy Jerseys.
Here’s what Nike had to say about the collaboration:
“To create this Nike exclusive shirt, we teamed up with Nigerian pop sensation, Wizkid. Emblazoned with the logo of his own personal label, Starboy, Wizkid celebrates his story in bold design and subtle decoration. The colours of Nigeria proudly embellish the sleeves and the name of his starting place and hometown, Surulere, shines on the reverse. The shirt is finished with a centrally placed Nike Swoosh, complementing his iconic Starboy graphic below.”
We hope that these jerseys will actually be accessible to most of us in Nigeria unlike the limited release of the Nigerian World Cup Kit.
