Tay Iwar stood out in his music from his early days on the scene with his debut project ‘Passport’, a revolutionizing tape that changed music for everyone now. It might seem like a small feat for Tay who’s still under 22, but his production, vocals, songwriting and creation process is nothing short of special.
Based in Abuja with his clan of brothers who together form the growing creative empire, Bantu. It’s clear Tay is on a mission of his own intuition, with no one distracting him from being peculiar in his craft without the pressure of the mainstream world, an attitude a true artist masters to give the best and purest of his work every time.
It’s been two years since his last compilation ‘Renascentia’, only a string of good singles have followed till the premiere of a three-track project called ‘1997’ on Soulection through Beats 1.
Proud to be a part of Nigeria’s very own, @TayIwar, musical journey. 1997 is the first piece from his debut album dropping later this year 🇳🇬

Announced as a sample palette before his forthcoming album, 1997 is a collection of a well-rounded work of art spread across three self-produced tracks that touch reach for eargasm in different ways.
“Space” is the first song on the collection, featuring Santi and Preyé on a retro-pop song that stresses Tay’s need for space to get away with all his dreams. “Sugardaddy” which features Odunsi [The Engine] fusing his native spirit perfectly to tell a tale of a young girl who’s infatuated with the material things of the world offered by ‘sugardaddies‘.
“Miracle Girl” is the most profound of the trio, Tay dives into his emotions showing his vocal range and passion through a very engaging ballad about love for that special person.
It’s an incredible attempt by Tay Iwar, his debut album is expected to drop later on this year. We can’t wait.
