Blulyt is someone who has always been comfortable under a spotlight. Since her early years in theatre as a performer, she’s embraced art in different forms, from music to dance and acting. Her newest creative pursuit is doubling down on the form she loves the most, music.
After some trials in the music industry with earlier singles like Celebration with Victor AD, she has taken learnings from her experiences to take time on a debut body of work, Shades of Blu EP, which smoothly flows through Afrobeats, Gqom, Amapiano, and R&B. It’s packed with danceable and profound messages, while establishing her core voice as an artist in love with the art.

Her name Blulyt, is a stylistic play that represents messages that have helped her, which she wants to pass forward: “Blulyt represents light, belief, hope and peace,” she says. Musically, she stands out for a rich vocal dexterity that shows in her adaptations to various productions to match what her lyrics communicate at the time.
This kind of mastery comes from a familiar terrain of discipline, consistency, and perpetual improvement necessary to become a high-level dancer and actor. These intersections add a layer of understanding to her knowledge of how audiences connect with art, regardless of form, and let her hone it into making meaningful, melodious music.
Shades of Blu is a confluence of Blulyt’s spectrum as an artist; she sways from sultry to doting to unyielding, landing at a celebratory end in one steady swing. “Shades of Blu represents different sides of me coming together at once,” she says. It’s a highly expository beginning for an artist who is a creative force at her core. “This project is my introduction, but it’s also a statement about the kind of artist I want to become.”
Track 3, “Want It All”, captures the tension between gratitude and ambition; on it she sings “I’m looking up, you know where I’m from, that’s why I cannot stop”. Track 5, “Areyeng” is an anthem for the lives of the party around the world; it simply means “let’s go,” and from start to finish, it takes you on an infectious ride. All songs on the EP were written by her and recorded with different producers. “I enjoy experimenting and creating from scratch”.
Ultimately, she believes in the power of music to effect change and the movement that comes with it to be a medicine for our daily lives. Success for her is in the impact she can make, and Shades of Blu is a step in the right direction. “If I’m able to inspire people to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, and understand that they can become more than what their circumstances suggest, I’ll consider that success.”
