Over the years, Empawa Music, under the leadership of Mr. Eazi, has consistently rolled out an impressive array of talent. From Joeboy, to the northern phenoms, Namenj and Hamisu Breaker and most recently C Natty have all been consistent with their history.

In true talent development style, following the Empawa 20 grant, Empawa announced their newest talent, C Natty along with his debut single ‘Ojah‘. On the single, he showcases strong penmanship and a robust vocal range. He then followed up this year with another single – ‘Pure Addiction‘ on which He also shows his depth as an artist with the content of the song and a very distinguishing style. The single is mid-tempo and mellow vibes and subtle percussion which when merged with his voice gives us sublime rhythms. Upon his debut into the music industry, the Empawa artist development grad is proving himself to be a formidable entry.

These are five things we know about the budding superstar.

Who is CNatty?

Obasi Chidiebere Samuel, popularly known as CNatty grew up in Lagos, having grown up listening to artists like Fela, 2Face, Bob Marley and other numerous international stars show a global approach to music. He started putting out content and freestyles on his Instagram and that was what gave him the courage to enter the Empawa 20 Grant

What genre of music does he create?

On the debut single, it’s clear that his vibes are curated, it’s obvious she has a wide range of musical influences. On Pure Addiction we see him deliver a mid-tempo with a lot of electric guitar riffs and subtle percussion which when merged with his voice, gives a mid-’90s vibe. His music merges elements of Afrobeat, R&B/Neo-Soul with Afro-pop percussion.

Multilingual dynamism.

With the different topics he touched on, it’s easy to see his flexibility as a songwriter. He seamlessly fluctuates between Yoruba, Pidgin, and English on both tracks and this shows his depth with the lyrics and how he tells beautiful, emotionally layered, and authentic tracks. On Pure Addiction, he shows us a sultry and maybe even vulnerable side of himself, where the singer addresses a lover who’s always running through his mind and a determination to fight for their love.

He knows his music.

It’s clear that Empawa takes their time in actually helping the talent develop and polish their skills. It is also evident that AR and the production team are thoroughly involved in making sure that each artist has their own distinct defining sound. This in turn funnels down to the finished product that the listeners hear and love.

What to expect From the Empawa Artist Development team.

Given the amount of work that has been put into intentional rollout for a couple of their artists for both singles and Projects, it’s not too farfetched to say that their Arist development department is on a clear path of grooming talent and training them in all the different spheres of the music industry and business.
