Prince Harry and Meghan Arrive in Nigeria to Promote Mental Health Awareness

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made a grand entrance to Nigeria on Friday, greeted by cheers and traditional dancing as they embarked on a mission to advocate for mental health support for young people affected by conflict. Their visit also aimed to boost awareness of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded and sick servicemembers and veterans, which Prince Harry established.

The royal couple’s itinerary in the West African nation, their first visit at the invitation of Nigeria’s military, commenced with a visit to Lightway Academy. The school, supported by their Archewell foundation, provides training for young girls affected by conflicts in Nigeria. Following this, they met with the nation’s military officers.

During their three-day stay, Harry and Meghan planned to meet with wounded soldiers and their families. Nigerian officials hailed this gesture as a demonstration of solidarity aimed at boosting the morale of troops, particularly those engaged in a 14-year conflict against Islamic extremists in the country’s northeast.
