Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage has launched the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation. This is a new initiative aimed at giving emerging African musicians, producers, songwriters, and creative professionals world-class training and mentorship. The foundation’s flagship program, Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program, will run in Lagos from April 23–26, 2026, in partnership with the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
The four-day program immerses participants in Berklee’s professional musicianship methodology, covering live performance, songwriting, production, music business, and ensembles. Students will receive hands-on guidance in creative problem-solving, stage performance, improvisation, and professional development—all led by expert instructors and artistic advisor Tiwa Savage, herself a Berklee alumna (’07). The program culminates in a live showcase, allowing participants to perform original work while receiving mentorship on next steps for their careers.
Applications open February 24, 2026, and close March 20, 2026. Participants must be 18 or older, have at least one year of experience with their instrument or voice, and be able to travel to Lagos. There is no tuition fee, though attendees cover their travel, housing, and meals. Applicants must submit a short video (2–3 minutes) showcasing their performance skills via platforms like YouTube or Vimeo.
Daily sessions run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., combining lectures, workshops, and ensemble training designed to strengthen both artistic and business skills in a collaborative, supportive environment. The program aims to build pathways for emerging African talent, showing that music careers go far beyond performance alone and include producing, songwriting, engineering, and creative entrepreneurship.
