From 5 November, MultiChoice Nigeria and its new owner Canal+ are cutting DStv down to four packages, and the cheapest starts at ₦6,000, according to Techeconomy. Here is the new lineup:
- Starter, ₦6,000. Adds SuperSport KICKOFF, which carries the Premier League Match of the Week and selected Champions League fixtures, plus Africa Magic+.
- Select, ₦11,000. Movie channels, local and international series, kids’ channels and selected football and other sports.
- Sports, ₦21,000. Every Premier League and Champions League match, plus WWE and UFC, with the general entertainment channels from Select.
- Premium, ₦44,500. The top tier in Nigeria, per Nairametrics. It adds Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, golf majors and M-Net international series to the Sports lineup.
Your current plan moves over automatically. Access becomes Starter, Family becomes Select, Compact becomes Sports and Compact Plus becomes Premium. The switch carries no extra charge for eligible active subscribers, and anyone who has prepaid several months keeps at least their current package until that period ends. After 5 November, you can change packages through MultiChoice’s payment platforms.
GOtv gets four options too: Easy, Starter, Select and Sports. Brand Communicator reports that new DStv customers can get a decoder, full installation kit and one month of the entry-level subscription for ₦15,000, and that the standalone DStv Stream starts at ₦6,000.
MultiChoice has not promised that prices will stay where they are. It says future pricing depends on operating costs and market conditions.
