#LYRICThursday: AYLØ

#Lyric(Days) is a mini-segment under the music branch, we’ll be taking a look at some of the music being released by young Africans and breaking down what they’re trying to say.

925 Lyrics

{Verse 1}

Pray my mama don’t go quick, for a nigguh blow and get big.

Tryna have her living on the hills, God I miss them homemade meals.

She was working all the time, how did I fall into this life of crime?

Cause If you know me I ain’t really that guy, still I got love for all ma brothers on the grind.

Aylø is in search of success to that makes his mother proud, success that doesn’t have him do things that are against the law though he respects all his brothers hustling and doing illegal things just to provide for their families. This is understandable as Aylø comes from a country with a high rate of poverty and a lot of kids have to do illegal things just to get by cause there’s a low education and employment rate

{Hook}
They say fuck a nine to five on the line, ain’t no way im making pennies on a dime that’s a lie.

Money, bitches, marijuana on my mind, yeah she miiinee sipping on this water to unwind from the drown.

Whachu thinking nigga

Aylø doesn’t want a typical white-collar job, he wants to live his life free, pursuing his dreams of music, being successful, having beautiful women.

{Verse 2}

Get your figures up nigguh, wait wait wait lemme finish

On ma Kanye with this, I prefer to be last remaining of my kind

Kindred soul, Kendrick told me it’s a mad city

Out in London with these bad women, type of cookie keep your back spinning, trust me bruddah chasing till the casket Ay

Now this is madness, slightly tragic, but the system had us disadvantaged

Lookie told me that’s why he went at this sort the marj (mum) with a couple mansions

Living lavish, living handsome, living like a boujie bitch in hamptons

Its attractive, the allure had a nigguh active like

He’s back to chasing his dreams, with his focus on getting money while he faces the demons that are being mirrored through material things that serve as both a drive to be more and also a subtle warning about the Mad city it comes with.

{Hook}
They say fuck a nine to five on the line, ain’t no way im making pennies on a dime that’s a lie.

Money, bitches, marijuana on my mind, yeah she miiinee sipping on this water to unwind from the drown.

Whachu thinking nigga
