Yesterday was filled with music releases from a lot of artists we’ve been waiting on, so much music the hashtag #NewMusicFriday was created by Twitter users to immortalize the day of good music. It’s great when music is released, especially when it’s a lot but you can’t listen to all of them, and to be honest a few might be really bad so we’ve taken it upon ourselves to narrow down the list to the seven songs that stood out from all the musical chaos that was #NewMusicFriday.
Remy Baggins – Choose
Remy Baggins has consistently proven to us why he’s one of the incredibly talented producers, an artist creating who’s been hard at work exploring different ways he can relate tracks that leave a lasting impression on his audience and I guess this has paid off this year. In July of 2018, Remy was featured on Ice Prince’s Cold EP as both a producer of tracks 1 through to 4 and as an artist on the track titled “Space Funk”.

He’s back with a new single ‘Choose’, a fusion house and the traditional afro-pop/dance creating something interestingly peculiar.
M.anifest & Worlasi Langani – Okay
M.anifest is picking up the pace with his string of singles which have all been hits. His new single with Worlasi Langani is a party anthem from the two Ghanian rap icons. Don’t be surprised if you start moving unexpectedly.
The song isn’t just for you to move, it’s also a proclamation from the god Mc to everyone who underestimates his influence on the Ghanian music culture.
Here to last not to carry last.
Famous Music – Boti (feat. Famous Bobson, Santi, Damayo & Minz)
Bobson founded music collective ‘Famous Music‘ has been growing in the shadows for years, expanding their fanbase with their frontman taking charge with his thread of well-crafted aftopop hits.

It’s 2018 and the collective is ready to come out as a unit with their first official track ‘Boti‘ featuring Santi and it’s a wonderful song with the most addictive hook that’ll have a lasting impression all summer. Great way to bring your team out.
BOJ – Bill Up
BOJ on the Microphone has had a good year so far filled with a lot of music, earlier this year he released the amazing five-track EP, Make E No Cause Fight with Ajebutter 22.

He returns with his solo single tilted ‘Bill up’ produced by GMK. On this song, we can hear his distinct voice and how much he’s grown as an artist on probably one of the best songs he’s released.
Mojo – Sweet (feat. AYLØ & Paula B.)
MOJO is as prolific a writer in Yoruba as he is in English language. Documenting and story-telling through music. Illustrating a unique standpoint of a youth from Nigeria beyond aware of his voice.

On this single titled “Sweet”, MOJO tells his story of a relationship from once upon a time although good, was happening at the wrong time. Alongside vocal titans AYLØ & Paula B revisit the memory of what was “too sweet it was bad for health”. This offering from the young wordsmith is a soulful hip–hop ensemble, mixed & mastered by Higo.
Santi – Freaky (Feat. Bridge & Nonso Amadi)
One of the most anticipated songs of the summer is finally here from the experimental, extremely creative genius Santi which he demonstrated on his last song ‘Icy’.

‘Freaky‘ which premiered on Complex UK featuring Bridge and Nonso Amadi, with production by Monster Boy’s Genio.
“Freaky” places Santi’s willingness to fuse a range of genre influences with more stripped-back percussion, somewhere in-between dancehall and contemporary Afrobeats, resulting in a dark and textured sound.
Davido – Nwa Baby
For all Davido fans who’ve been stalking the internet’s darkest corners for this, his latest single ‘Nwa Baby’ is finally out and he definitely didn’t disappoint.
With a Meji Alabi directed music video, the song will slowly but surely become an earworm you can’t escape.
