Twitter for the last few years has been the top social media platform that spread news and information the quickest with its endless timelines of memes, tweets, and videos. The social media platform introduced a few upgrades in recent years, one of them is ‘live streaming’ an option top companies have taken advantage of. Apple will be joining this long list of companies, for the first time ever, this year’s conference event will be live-streamed on Twitter. This isn’t the only time Apple has live-streamed its product announcements.
This is Apple’s second major expansion in streaming options this year. For WWDC, the company also opened streaming up to people using Chrome and Firefox. Previously, Apple had limited viewing to Safari and Edge users only on the desktop. It had been a frustrating constraint that really just served as an annoyance for the many Mac owners who use other browsers, Verge reports.
Apple will be running the live stream today, September 12, through its ridiculous Twitter account, Instead of saying “follow” the event on Twitter, the tweet says “watch the #AppleEvent live on Twitter.” (Emphasis ours). The event kicks off at 10 AM PDT and can also be streamed via Apple TV and Apple’s Events site on the web, as usual. Apple confirmed the Twitter live stream to TechCrunch this morning.
