Best New Music: Featuring Fasina’s New EP ‘Love and Grief’

The first time many people heard Fasina was on DJ Femo’s Adara, it’s been four years since Fasina captivated everyone with the song, and he has gone on to hone his sound, explore his unique cross-pollination of genres and build a loyal fanbase around his music. Last year, he dropped the cannabis-inspired collaborative tape; 3 Strains with Tim Lyre, the three-track EP with lead single Just Linked saw the duo relatable and brooding through their relaxed rap verses.

Fasina’s new tape Love and Grief is a somber four-track exploration of battling demons and seeking solace, delivered in Fasina’s relaxed, drawn back style of blending rapping and singing over dark guitar strings and hip hop drums that contribute to the brooding somber feel of the project.

The lead single Demon Diamonds dropped late last year, sees Fasina “Finding solitude in things that could tear me apart” from cookies to Lus, feeding his demons.

Singing on making the most of life, losing touch, and needing space, Peace of Mind (Life) focuses on Fasina’s relationships.

On the final track; Let Myself Go Fasina addresses his battle with his traumas and demons, searching for an escape from holding on.
