#BestNewMusic: Asake’s starts the year with “Yoga,” Zlatan Ibile joins forces with Seyi Vibez, Wande Coal & Olamide on “Kpe Paso,” Skiibii + more.

Friday has become the de-facto release day in the music industry, and a plethora of tracks vie to become the soundtrack of that weekend and beyond. Sifting through it all every Friday morning can be overwhelming for many listeners, so every week we compile some highlights.

Asake — “Yoga”

Asake has returned. Last year concluded with an epic run of sold-out shows after dominating the charts all year. He’s made sure to the fire going as he starts the year with his first release, “Yoga“. The new song captures how important inner peace of mind and solace are, which he requests that no one interrupts. Another year begins, and a fresh Asake emerges.

Zlatan feat. Seyi Vibez — “Let There Be Light”

“Let There Be Light,” steps up to be the new anthem for Street-hop enthusiasts. An excellent sonic production sees Zlatan Ibile and Seyi Vibez being the dynamic duo we never knew we needed.

Wande Coal & Olamide — “Kpe Paso”

A Wande Coal & Olamide joint is always a gem. The frequent duo collaborators render a lovely delivery on the Kel P-produced “Kpe Paso.” Exploring frivolities deeply, party lifestyle, women, and a bit of unscrolling vulnerabilities. All of these are pictured in between the groove of the entire music.

Skiibii — “Back To Sender”

Skiibii makes a potential banger on an opening song of the year tagged “Back To Sender.” On a dreamy and Amapiano-infused section, his story emanates with so much reality and originality.

Other notable releases this week include songs from Tytanium & Laycon, Toliban, TobiiWTW & Miles Caliph, Titi Owusu, Onizzy, Jayson Rex & Billie Beats, DJ Neptune & Ruger, Lojay, Fadè, and more.
