Davido’s ‘Fall’ Is The Longest-Charting Nigerian Song In Billboard History

Davido known for his string of chart-topping hits has been breaking a lot of records outside Africa as Afropop sounds becoming more dominant worldwide.

Davido’s “Fall” made history as the first-ever African music video to reach 100 million views on YouTube a few months ago, making it the most watched Nigerian music video on YouTube. This week it officially became the longest-charting Nigerian single in the history of the Billboard charts — a platform which tabulates the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in the United States and elsewhere.  It’s also on the top 100 most Shazamed songs.

Davido’ is clearly “the biggest [African] in America right now” and he’s enjoying it.

Davido spoke with UK news channel 24 recently, right after a sold-out show at London’s O2. He spoke about “Fall’s” success, and talked about a possible future in Nigerian politics.
