At least 17 people have been killed following an attack on a community in Benue State on Easter Sunday, with several homes also destroyed in the violence.
Reports indicate that suspected armed attackers stormed the community, opening fire on residents and setting houses ablaze. The assault, which occurred during the Easter celebrations, left multiple people dead while others sustained injuries and fled the area.
According to accounts, the attackers carried out the operation over a period of time, targeting both individuals and property. Several buildings were reportedly razed, forcing residents to abandon their homes.
Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the attack, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.
