Through The Lens: Five Music Videos To Watch This Week

/

It’s been a crazy past few weeks in Nigeria due to the recently concluded elections and we’ve all been so caught up in knowing what the future will hold for the nation.

To lighten the mood we’ve compiled a list of five new music videos to get you out of any bad funk you’re currently feeling, enjoy.

Odunsi – Tipsy Feat. Raye

We can’t start this list without talking about fast rising star Odunsi who’s been on an upward projectile in his career since the release of his debut album ‘Rare’ last year.

The singer released his first single of the year ‘Tipsy’ last month to much acclaim from his fans and growing global audience. He follows up with a music video for the song which featured vocals from UK singer Raye.

Falana – Repeat

Falana is known for pushing powerful narratives through her music, performances and music videos. She’s accomplished this yet again with the release of the music video for ‘Repeat’, the second single off her highly-anticipated EP, Chapter One.

Falana explained to Hunger Magazine that the track digs deep into the commonalities of the human experience in our world (where change is a constant) and our need for community, spirituality and love.

The video is a visual poem of resilience, resistance, and faith showcasing Falana’s glory with montages of past political movements —some of which were women-led.

Hamzaa – Red

Hamzaa, a very gifted vocalist who recently released her debut EP First Signs of Me which featured stand out singles like “You” and “Breathing” is back with a new music video for her moving track ‘Red’

The video was directed by Filmawi Efrem and filmed at Southend on Sea. It tells the story of an isolated, wandering, male protagonist interpreting the inflections Hamzaa sings of with his intricate dance moves.

Hamzaa describes the clip as her “most vulnerable moment, shared with the world, so others can see there is a way out…”

Ice Prince – Feel Good Feat. Falz & Phyno
