Hennessy celebrates 10 years of Nigerian Hip-Hop


For the last ten years, there’s been one brand constantly wagging it’s tail at the headway of the hip-hop scene in Nigeria, and that brand is liquor giant Hennessy. From cyphers, Hennessy Artistry VS Class, club tours across the nation, selecting hip-hop juggernaut Vector as it’s brand ambassador, they’ve really put they money where their mouth is and helped shaped the country’s hip-hop scene as we know it.

To begin what will be an activity packed year for Hennessy, they launched an artistry 10th anniversary bottle designed by Nigerian urban artist, OsaSeven which was then capped by celebrating Hennessy Artistry finale in grand style at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island On Saturday, December 14th, 2019.

The event gathered industry leaders and the Hennessy Maison treating them to an amazing night filled with a lot of Hennessy shots and endless free chops.

The night started with the crowning of Laudreyes as the winner of the 6th edition of the VS class competition, after a pulsating hiphop battle with 6 other rappers from across the country. It is interesting to note that Laudreyes is the first female winner of the competition in its new format. Laudreyes won an undisclosed cash gift, an opportunity to record two singles with an A-list producer of her choice and a year mentorship with the award- winning lyrical genius, Vector.

Then we moved on to the main show which was a concert themed on sounds that shaped the music and entertainment culture for the last decade with a specially curated line-up of artists, DJs and hype men who took guests on a musical journey.  


The night was long and filled with electrifying performances from legends of the old and new, Fireboy, Joeboy, Rema, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Sauce Kid, Ice Prince, Mayorkun, 9ice and Mr Eazi, Dj Consequence, Falz, Patoranking, Tiwa Savage, Olamide and many more all rocked the stage delivering amazing sets of their evergreen classics as well as recent hits.
