The Lagos State Government has released a traffic advisory ahead of repairs on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. Work starts on Monday, October 19, 2026, and will run for 35 days.
The repairs cover the stretch from Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre to Samuel Manuwa/BJ. While one lane is being worked on, a contra flow will run on the Lagos-bound side, from Samuel Manuwa to Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre.
The government has also mapped out alternative routes for motorists. Here is how each one works.
Bonny Camp and Falomo to Civic Centre and Lekki
Use Adeyemo Alakija Street by Muri Okunola Park, link Adeola Hopewell, then Akinbo Savage. Connect Bishop Aboyade Cole to link the express from School Corner (Black Diamond) towards Sandfield. Motorists can also join Bishop Aboyade Cole directly and continue through School Corner (Black Diamond) towards Sandfield.
Falomo inwards Akin Adesola
Go through IMB to the Coastal Road entrance, then through Adetokunbo Ademola to Eko Hotel Roundabout. From there, go to Ajose Adeogun, then Ligali, heading towards Black Diamond School Corner.
Bonny Camp
Use Ahmadu Bello Way to reach Eko Hotel Roundabout, then go through IMB and the Coastal Road entrance. Continue on Bishop Aboyade Cole, through Adetokunbo Ademola and Eko Hotel Roundabout, to Ajose Adeogun and then Ligali, heading towards Black Diamond School Corner.
Eko Hotel through Adetokunbo Ademola to Civic Centre
Motorists will be diverted onto Bishop Aboyade Cole, continuing through School Corner (Black Diamond) towards Sandfield. People leaving through the 1004 exit gate, and others along that route, will turn left or make a U-turn in front of the 1004 gate to join Bishop Aboyade Cole and continue to School Corner (Black Diamond) towards Sandfield.
Eko Hotel to Falomo-Ikoyi
Move through Sanusi Fafunwa to connect Akin Adesola, heading towards the ramp bridge.
The state government says officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to coordinate vehicles, reduce congestion and limit the inconvenience. Motorists are asked to plan their movement ahead, obey traffic officials and cooperate with the measures in place.
The advisory was signed by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, and dated October 15, 2026.
