In the past months per se, Boy Spyce must have been incubating his talents under the clutches of Mavin Records, prior to his official unveiling which has trickled down to the release of his self-titled debut EP. Boy Spyce seems to have a trademark at the moment as he has been pictured both on his EP cover and display profile picture gently caressing a little white Rabbit. Meanwhile, his debut EP unlocks nostalgia doubled with his enriched musical palette; sometimes, he sounds dreamy and melodic, and other times more alluring and in charge.
The offering is a sensual 5–track solo effort raised in diversifying sonic experiences in which the golden-haired youngster unravels a collection of tales. He captures a few constraints in love with his woman who he has stumbled into a soured relationship with on “Nobody.”
He became more personal on “Dreams,” where he found a lover who chased her dreams as his done and then they went separate ways because no one cares to check on each other. Meanwhile, he freely offers that anytime his distant woman needs him she should text his line, he is now a star and has less time to keep up with her. However, she failed to text nor call him and so the relationship ran into a loss that no party secured heartache, as Spyce also launched further to chronicle his story of struggle and tussle on “Destiny”.
“Destiny,” the last track on the project, as much as it reflected motivation with lyrics, is more like advice to listeners, it’s an intentional track meant to direct the affairs of his generation. A perfect landing for the project’s breathtaking crescendo. “Bad Things” severed the hopeless romantic on the opening track, replacing him with a whole new risqué modulation in persona.
Boy Spyce, sounds more experienced and clever lyrically. While folks from this generation would easily pick it up and get engaged with the song in pleasure. “Wayo”, becomes an experience he had with the wrong lover, after which the project comes to a close. Boy Spyce is a burgeoning star, once he’s been activated, the star will align.
