Netflix’s second African original series, Blood & Water debuts this month

American-owned streaming platform Netflix, is not slowing down on plans to take over Africa’s growing film market. The company is spreading its tentacles and resources to reach more content creators and lovers of pan-African content across this globe. A few days ago, it kickstarted ‘Made in Africa‘, a collection of locally produced movies, documentaries and series to celebrate Africa Month.

Netflix’s second proudly African original series ‘Blood & Water’ will be available for viewing from 20 May. The youth drama-led series follows the life of an intelligent, proactive and impulsive 16-year-old Puleng Khumalo, her plan to take a transfer to an elite school and investigate the 17-year-old cold case of her older sister who was abducted at birth. 

Netflix also revealed plans to renew Queen Sono for a second season and a new third series, precisely a dance drama – JIVA!, starring Noxolo Dlamini as the lead actress.
