Nigerian Sensation Yimeeka Released an Arresting Self-Titled EP

Olayinka Owoseni, widely known as Yimeeka, has released her highly anticipated sophomore project, the self-titled EP “Yimeeka,” which dives deeper into her sound and incorporates elements of Afrobeats, House, and Amapiano. This emotionally charged six-track EP takes listeners on a gripping journey through the stages of a failing relationship, featuring collaborations with globally recognized singer and producer Pheelz and rising House and Amapiano talents D3an and Smeez.

Yimeeka’s musical prowess has been making waves since she burst onto the scene in 2020, and her latest project promises to continue her artistry. The EP begins with the heartfelt track “Omo Ayi,” a eulogy from Yimeeka’s mother in their native Yoruba language, setting the tone for the following emotional rollercoaster.

The EP’s second single, “Destruction” offers a powerful preview of Yimeeka’s ability to convey raw and unfiltered emotions. From the poignant “In The Silence,” where she confronts her lover about mind games, to the electrifying “Iro” with its infectious House and Amapiano vibes, Yimeeka showcases her versatility and artistic depth.

Collaborating with Pheelz on “Away,” the EP takes a twist as her lover provides his perspective on the unraveling relationship. The project closes with the soul-stirring track “Foolish,” where Yimeeka reflects on the disappointment of unmet expectations, singing – “I was just a dreamer, you were only human.”

Yimeeka’s musical journey has seen her garner support from BBC 1xtra, with her songs earning occasional airplay on the station. She has also received support from various radio stations in Nigeria, such as Kiss FM, Soundcity, Rhythm FM, Hot FM, and The Beat 99.9 FM. Also, she’s featured on Spotify’s ‘Created by Women’ playlist, showcasing her growing influence on the global music stage.

The artist’s impressive resume includes a performance at Tiwa Savage’s concert in Toronto in August 2023, and a chance to co-write an unreleased single with The Chainsmokers earlier this year, cementing her status as a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Yimeeka’s debut EP, “Alter Ego,” released in 2022, received critical acclaim and showcased her ability to seamlessly navigate various genres.

As an accomplished producer, songwriter, sound designer, and creative director, Yimeeka has collaborated with notable brands and artists, including Afrobeats giant Davido. Her 2023 release, a 2-Song Pack featuring Semzi, Manana & YKB, titled “ISSUES/TSUNAMI,” further solidified her presence in the industry.
