Nigerian photographer Ruth Ossai grew up in Southeastern Nigeria and is now based in West Yorkshire, UK. Her work is known for its portrait and studio photography that empowers Nigerian communities by creating narratives with her subjects that celebrate their personal identities.
Ruth Ossai’s latest project is with Miu Miu, an Italian high fashion women’s clothing and accessory brand and a fully owned subsidiary of Prada. To celebrate the Italian brand’s Women’s Tales Series made to highlight female filmmakers, Ruth creates a new editorial using the ‘recently made popular’ Nollywood aesthetic to showcase the beauty of women in the industry. The editorial was released through publication ‘Garage‘.
With the help of Daniel Obasi, a Lagos based fashion director, photographer, and stylist, Ruth Ossai has recreated a beautiful female interpretation of Nollywood’s glory days.
