“Problem No Dey Finish” is an impassioned, vivid, and intensely personal 5-year retrospective that visualizes the process of growing up and realizing that everything is not okay. Curated by Folake Ismail, this exhibition aims to take a viewer through a journey of self-healing. In an interactive, digitally-forward showcase, artist Ramon Shitta weaves together the real and the imaginative to create a charged psychological landscape, while coaxing the viewer through a journey of self-healing.

The bodies of work are set in an urban context where newly found freedom and optimism are met with confusion and jadedness. With electrifying colors and dazzling geometric patterns, the artist revisits complex topics displayed on unconventional mediums. Problem No Dey Finish. Problems Never Finish. Problems only recur as we move forward in life. Each test, trial, and laughable moment prepares us for the next phase. Explore the healing powers that exist by delving in and confronting them.

THE ARTIST

Ramon Shitta is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in engineering and culinary arts that has spent his entire life drawing. Throughout his artistic practice he focuses on showing the unseen and exposing the hidden in the everyday. Now he explores the visual world with a less innocent lens. By deconstructing art, each viewer is able to enjoy in its purest form as colourful, fun, confusing and relatable.

Venue: Untitled, 59 Raymond Njoku Street, off Awoowo road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Date:  6 – 21 August 2022
