Chart rankings on the Nigeria Top 100 are based on a weighted formula incorporating audio and video streams within Nigeria, as well as airplay on radio and satellite TV in the country. It is the first and only standard music chart in Nigeria, providing comprehensive music activity including the official No. 1 song in Nigeria.

Asake’s “Organise” tallied 4.67 million streams (first week at No. 1 on streaming) and 43.3 million in radio reach (No. 3 on radio). 

It is the record-breaking sixth No. 1 in Nigeria – breaking a tie with Davido (5 No. 1s in the country). Additionally, “Organise” is the fourth song off Mr Money with the Vibe to reach No. 1 in Nigeria – a new record for any album in history. 

Interestingly, all of the artiste’s six No. 1 entries have come within 33 weeks; between the period of February 8 – September 19, 2022.

Last week’s No. 1, “Terminator” slips to No. 2 on this week’s chart. The song has spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Top 100. 

“Bad To Me” by Wizkid jumps 11-3 on this week’s Nigeria Top 100; the song tallied 65.6 million in radio reach (No. 1 on radio) and 3.51 million Nigerian streams (No. 4 on streaming). “Bad To Me” is the artiste’s eighth top ten entry in Nigeria and first No. 1 on the radio chart. 

Fireboy DML’s “Bandana” with Asake drops to No. 4 on this week’s Top 100 – it tops this week’s TV chart to become the second song to complete the clean sweep in 2022 – and sixth overall. The clean sweep is an exclusive merit for songs that have reached No. 1 on the weekly chart of every platform in Nigeria. 

Pheelz & Davido’s “Electricity” slides 4-5 on the chart – the song debuted and peaked at No. 3. 

Asake’s “Joha” moves 7-6 on this week’s Top 100. It is one of the two songs off Mr Money with the Vibe album to make an upward movement from last week (plus “Organise”).

Ayra Starr’s “Rush” debuts at No. 7 on the Top 100; the song tallied 3.12 million streams (No. 6 on streaming) and 31.7 million inn radio reach (No. 9 on radio). 

It is Ayra Starr’s fifth top ten entry in Nigeria – the highest for any female artiste in the country [Tiwa Savage (3) and Tems (2) are the only other female artistes with multiple top ten entries]. 

“Rush” is also the second top ten entry off the artiste’s debut album – joining Asake (8), Omah Lay (3), Joeboy (2) and Rema (2) as artistes to record multiple top 10 entries off their debut albums. 

Asake completes the top ten with three entries; “Dull” at No. 8, “Peace Be Unto You” at No. 9 and “Nzaza” at No. 10. Outside the top ten, Victony & Tempoe’s “Soweto” rockets from No. 30 to a new peak of No. 15.

Asake boasts one of the dominant weeks in the over 2 year history of TurnTable Charts, becoming the first artiste to land eight entries in the top ten in a week on any of the aggregate charts in the country. 

Asake is the first artiste to claim as many as eight entries in a single frame – surpassing the previous record held by Davido (7 on the chart dated November 23, 2020 of the defunct TurnTable Top 50). 

Leading the way, Asake’s “Terminator” which returns to No. 1 on the Top 100, logging its second week atop the chart. 

Ten of the tracks on the album already debuted on the Top 100 last week off one day of availability during the tracking week. All these tracks have moved into the top 25 in addition to  two new debuts in “Reason” featuring Russ at No. 20 and “Sunmomi” at No. 23. 

Mr Money With The Vibe also joins Davido’s A Better Time as the only albums to generate as many as eight top 10 songs in Nigeria (“Sungba (Remix)” which is No. 17 on this week’s chart peaked at No. 1 for a week earlier in 2022). 

Here is a look at Asake’s eight songs in the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100’s top 10 region as well as their Nigerian streams and airplay during the tracking week of Sept 9 – 15, 2022.

The song’s streaming sum marks the second-best in a single week in 2022 (since the launch of the Nigeria Top 100 on July 9) trailing only the 6.83 million of “Terminator” in its debut week. “Terminator” tops both the streaming and TV charts this week.

• No. 3: “Bandana” (Fireboy DML & Asake) [3.87 million streams, 64.6 million in radio reach and 12.1 million in TV reach]. “Bandana” logs an eighth week atop the radio chart. 
• No. 5: “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)” [4 million streams, 13.3 million in radio reach and 2.25 million in TV reach] 
• No. 6: “Dull” [4.38 million streams and 1.06 million in radio reach] 
• No. 7: “Joha” [4.33 million streams and 1.09 million in radio reach] 
• No. 8: “Nzaza” [3.80 million streams and 7.66 million in radio reach) 
• No. 10: “Dupe” [3.12 million streams and 1.33 million in radio reach) 

In addition, Asake stat pads his number of top ten entries in Nigeria, rising to No. 3 on the all-time list behind two of the biggest acts in Nigeria

On the genre charts, “Terminator’ is No. 1 on the Street-Pop chart; “Bandana” spends a ninth week atop the Afro-Pop Songs chart; “Muse” moves to No. 1 on the Afro-R&B chart while “Dupe” tops the Alternative genre chart. 

As for EMPIRE, the label & distributor has now logged a record 26 consecutive weeks with the No. 1 song in Nigeria. The streak started with “Sungba (Remix)” moving to No. 1 on the chart dated March 28 and has included No. 1 hits by Black Sherif, another 4 by Asake, Kizz Daniel, Burna Boy and Fireboy DML 

In between Asake’s domination of the top ten; “Electricity” drops 3-4 on this week’s top ten while Burna Boy’s “For My Hand” with Ed Sheeran falls 4-9. 

Outside the top ten; Wizkid’s “Bad To Me” debuts at No. 11 off two days of availability during the tracking week. The song tallied 2.52 million streams (No. 11 on streaming) and 14.4 million in radio reach (No. 33 on radio). The song is now challenging for No. 1 on next week’s Top 100 – with a small lead above “Organise” and “Terminator.” 

Ruger’s “Girlfriend” drops 5-12, Burna Boy’s “Common Person” falls 6-13, Oxlade’s “Ku Lo Sa” slides 10 – 15, Crayon’s “Ijo” slips 9 – 19 while “It’s Plenty” descends 7 – 21.

TurnTable Charts officialy announce the launch of the No. 1 award program for the celebration of artistic achievements in Nigerian music. The award is designed and made eligible for all those involved in the creation of a No.1 single in the country (this is based on the weekly TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 which combines all streaming platforms and airplay across the country). As such, artistes (lead & featured), producers are eligible for the award.

Additionally, engineers and studio personnel are also eligible for the No. 1 award – these are two key areas that are often overlooked in music celebration in this part of the world. Finally, record labels, A&Rs, music distributors and managers of talents involved in the No. 1 single will be eligible for the award too.     

The purpose of this new initiative is to celebrate success, amplify unique achievement and recognize the unsung heroes of artistic milestones – from record label executives, producers, songwriters, A&Rs, engineers and more. You can order your own No. 1 award, provided there is sufficient evidence of your role in the creation of a single that peaked at No. 1 on the Nigeria Top 100. 

Fireboy DML and Asake are the first recipients of the award for their respective chart-topping singles ‘Bandana’ and ‘Peace Be Unto You.’ The former, which is still the No. 1 song in the country, has spent five consecutive weeks atop the Nigeria Top 100; while the latter became the first song to reach No. 1 on the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 – which was launched on July 11, 2022.

All the No. 1 songs on the aggregate charts published by TurnTable Charts are eligible for the award. TurnTable Charts has published two aggregate music charts till date; the defunct TurnTable Top 50 and the newly launched TurnTable Nigeria Top 100. “Bandana” tallied 63.7 million in radio reach (No. 1 on radio, up 12%) and 3.74 million Nigerian streams (No. 2 on streaming, up 6%) – the song increased in streams despite dropping to No. 2 on the streaming chart. 

With “Bandana” tallying over 60 million in radio reach in a week, Fireboy DML becomes the first achieve this feat with multiple songs; “Peru” tallied over 60 million in radio reach for three consecutive weeks in January.

Carterefe & Berri-Tiga’s “Machala” launches at No. 2 on this week’s Nigeria Top 100; it tallied 4.15 million streams (No. 1 on streaming) and 24.5 million in radio airplay impressions (No. 18 on radio). 

The 4.15 million streams is the second biggest by a song in a week since TurnTable Charts started using a multi-metric weighted system for the streaming chart – only Fireboy DML & Asake’s “Bandana” has tallied higher in a week, 4.47 million streams on the chart dated July 25. 

“Machala” also starts at No. 1 on the Top Street-POP Songs chart as well as the NXT Emerging Artiste Top Songs chart. 

Burna Boy’s “It’s Plenty” returns to its No. 3 peak on the Top 100 while Asake’s “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)” falls to No. 4. 

Burna Boy’s “For My Hand” with Ed Sheeran drops 3-5 to complete this week’s top five. 

Mavins’ “Overloading (OVERDOSE)” descends 4-6 while Kizz Daniel’s “Buga (Lo Lo Lo)” with Tekno retreats to No. 7. 

“Buga” makes a bit of history on this week’s chart as it becomes the first song in 2022 to reach No. 1 on every chart – and the fifth overall. It completes the clean sweep by moving to No. 1 on this week’s TV chart. In the process, Kizz Daniel becomes the first artiste to achieve this feat with multiple songs – “Lie” also topped every chart in 2021. 

Rounding out this week’s top ten; Crayon’s “Ijo (Laba Laba)” holds at its No. 8 peak while Burna Boy’s “Common Person” drops 6-9; Mayorkun’s “Certified Loner” is steady at No. 10 for another week.

Burna Boy’s “For My Hand” with Ed Sheeran, blasts in at No. 1 on the Nigeria Top 100. The collaboration marks the first No. 1 entry for both artistes on the chart. 

Burna Boy also debuts three other songs off his new album, Love, Damini – which is unofficially the No. 1 album of the week. “It’s Plenty” starts at No. 6, “Common Person” at No. 7, “Different Size” at No. 8 and “Cloak & Dagger” at No. 9 – “Last Last” also slides 4-5 on this week’s top ten. 

“For My Hand” is the No. 1 song in Nigeria 

“For My Hand,” released under Spaceship Ent./Atlantic Records (distributed by EMPIRE in Africa), tallied 3.90 million streams and 47.5 million airplay audience impressions. 

The track arrives as the second No. 1 entry on the Nigeria Top 100 – the chart was launched last week as the first standard music chart in the country that combines all platforms. 

Before the Nigeria Top 100, TurnTable Charts published a Top 50 aggregate chart that combined freemium streaming only with radio and TV airplay. On the chart, Burna Boy had three No. 1 entries while Ed Sheeran had one. 

Additionally, “For My Hand” is Burna Boy’s fifth No. 1 entry on the Top Streaming Songs chart (second off Love, Damini) and Ed Sheeran’s second on the streaming chart. 

“For My Hand” also starts as the No. 1 song on the newly launched Top Afro-POP Songs chart. 

Last week No. 1, “Peace Be Unto You” slides to No. 2 on this week’s chart – it continues to overwhelmingly lead airplay in Nigeria with 79.1 million in airplay reach (up 27%). It leads the radio chart for a third week and reaches No. 1 on the TV chart for the first time. 

“PBUY” also logs a second week atop the Top Street-POP Songs chart. 

Kizz Daniel’s “Buga (Lo Lo Lo)” with Tekno is down to No. 3 while Mavins’ “Overloading (OVERDSOE)” falls 3-4. 

Burna Boy’s “Last Last” retreats 4-5 on this week’s top ten. 

The next four songs in the top ten are debuts from Love Damini; “It’s Plenty” at No. 6 with 3.24 million streams (No.2 on streaming) and 8.90 million in radio reach (No. 52 on radio), “Common Person” at No. 7 with 3.08 million streams (No. 3 on streaming) and 4.79 million in radio reach (No. 110 on radio), “Different Size” featuring Victony at No. 8 with 2.99 million streams (No. 4 on streaming) and 6.10 million in radio reach (No. 76 on radio) and “Cloak & Dagger” featuring J Hus at No. 9 with 2.81 million streams (No. 7 on streaming) and 9.84 million in radio reach (No. 49 on radio). 

Rounding out the top ten, Ruger’s “Girlfriend” descends 7-10.   

Outside the top ten; All of Love, Damini’s songs are in the Top 50 – “Jagele” at No. 45 is the lowest charting song off the album. 

Crayon’s “Ijo (Laba Laba)” rockets to No. 18, jumping seventy-two places in the process. 

Chris Brown’s “Nobody Has to Know” with Davido debuts at No. 57 while Fireboy DML’s “Bandana” with Asake launches at No. 66 off one day of tracking.
