Voices Of Music: Preyé releases ‘Cookies’ her first solo single in over a year

Nigerian Soul Artiste, Preyé who most recently stood out on Tay Iwar’s “Space” alongside Santi, releases her first solo single since 2017, titled, “Cookies”, produced by Benny Que.

Despite “Cookies” being Preyé’s first solo single in over a year, she has been gracing artists on various collaborations with her signature voice.

Her new single Cookies is a smooth reminder that R&B/Soul is not dead, with Preyé’s enchanting sultry vocals singing about self-love after a bitter break up.

Preyé yet again puts on an impressive display of vocal prowess evident in the tracks smooth, sensual yet haunting vocal production. She says “the vocal production was one of smoothest I’ve done and happened on a rainy evening”.

Preyé speaks about the inspiration of the song saying:

“It’s about finding peace with yourself by appreciating the little things like enjoying self-made chocolate cookies… it makes me feel relaxed, makes me feel like having an honest conversation even this it’s really a ‘Fuck you, I’m the shit’ song”.

Co-writer, Ngohire goes on to say:

“I love how it addresses the entitlement exes have to deal with, Its tempo gives us the chance to listen to the message. There’s a Caribbean reggae vibe to it so it feels strong/assertive In a “FUBU” kinda way. Sounds like dark chocolate and… rosé”

‘Cookies’ was written by Preyé and Ngohire, produced by Benny Que Mixed and mastered by Tay Iwar.

Preyé tells us to expect her debut EP in 2019 and more collaborations in the near future.
