‘What inspired the project was this one time I just left a relationship and normally times like that you just have to distract yourself and being an artist the only way I could distract my self-was to make music and obviously your mood determines what type of music or art you create at the time. It just happened that I wrote those songs during that period and the very first one I wrote was ‘Again’ if you listen to the lyrics properly it was from the heart, the second one ‘Epistles’ was actually an epistle in a musical form trying to woo my previous lover and I did that with the help of Idris King and Amaarae.’
Reading this highlights what you already thought about Yinka Bernie‘s new project, an emotional rollercoaster he calls ‘Façades’. Yinka Bernie, a young Nigerian producer turned artist with the great acceptance of his previous project ‘19 & Over‘ which was something sonically refreshing for the scenery youthful, and vibrant with how he constructed a style for his sound, puts his voice on the mic again with ‘Façades’. His slow tempo, use of drums and percussions carves a mark on the mind and soul of what he’s going through in his world, this time its heartbreak, something we all know a thing or two about.
‘Rockstar’ is the grooviest of the project and that was me fully trying to distract my myself from what was going on with me at the time, It started from the beat from the moment I made the drum pattern I already knew what I was going for. After making a draft of the beat, I just freestyled the thing and everything came together then I sent the song to AYLØ and in like a week or two he sent back his verse.
The three track EP is soothing and is a good sequel from Yinka Bernie.
