If you’ve followed Santi’s work or watched his previous video for his track ‘Gangster Fear‘ featuring Odunsi off his ‘Suzie’s Funeral’ EP you’d understand the experimental workings of his mind which he demonstrates uniquely with every project released for every Santi viewer’s consumption.

In an era allowing more creativity amongst mediums, defying the normal approaches to forms of media especially ‘music’ and ‘film’ is taking over. It’s great to know young individuals are remoulding this bracket. ‘Jungle Fever‘ a music video shot for a song of the same name by Santi & Falomo which debuted via Wired Japan [yes, fucking Wired Japan for their special issue on African creatives] is an alternate trip with aesthetic shots crowned through perfectly set angles creating a seamless majestic flow.

Santi.

If redefining the idea of what a music video is in Africa, Nigeria especially through the emergence of the new age generation, this is a perfect example of the exciting future we can look ahead to. Stripping the video down to bare essentials, they’ve been able to achieve something unique, minimal and romantically beautiful. Focusing on ‘the song, Santi, a few girls and beautiful scenery‘ is definitely a new direction which allows abstract stories to be created in easy directed form. I’m most intrigued on how this video will affect our perception of what a good music video is, replacing the pointless ‘club feel’ videos we have on our screens with well, something different.

In creating a new era of cinematographers from Africa, we can boldly add this video which seals an already buzzing song as one leading way for the revolution.
