Today’s young Nigerians are increasingly open about sexuality, possibly a by-product of growing up on the boundless internet. Taking and sharing nudes, thirst traps, and provocative images are a light Tuesday’s work in this generation. For Nigerian youth who like to document demon time, OnlyFans seems a more profitable option than giving it out for free.
People have enjoyed nudes for free for the longest, so people think online nudity is something that should always be free. But if there’s one thing marketing in the social media age has taught us, it’s that there’s profit wherever so many eyes are fixed, and people are always looking at titties.
Living through the Uber-but-for period doesn’t make it hard to consider OnlyFans like an NSFW Patreon. Subscribers pay for exclusive content while supporting the creator to improve their craft, which in turn yields better exclusive content. As Michael Scott would say, it’s a win-win-win.
The appeal of OnlyFans is in having an intimate experience with the creator you get off to; not feeling like every average Joe/Jane that sees the free stuff on social media. Creators offer a sexual experience that is hard to find in porn: genuine connection. A unique offering of Nigerian Onlyfans creators.
Creating adult content is not as simple as it looks, time and effort go into making sure everything is right. Additionally, there are people with special requests, and they have to do them in a way that satisfies the subscriber.
There’s a sense of control shared among OnlyFans participants; performers can choose whether they want to have sex, and with who. Simultaneously, it gives consumers their own performer who they can tell what to do for a period of time.

OnlyFans Impact
OnlyFans has around 17.5 million users worldwide and over 70,000 content creators, who have received over $150 million since its launch. Content creators keep 80 per cent of their income, while the company takes the remaining 20 per cent.
“We market the platform to creators and influencers of all genres, and we have seen a significant increase in non-adult social media influencers, including high profile fitness models, YouTubers and reality TV celebrities. Influencers are coming to OnlyFans to post their vlogs, behind the scenes footage, tips and trick videos, live Q&A videos and general exclusive content.”
Timothy Stokely, OnlyFans Founder
OnlyFans could also clear a path for aspiring adult performers who may be hesitant to tread the muddy waters of the Nigerian porn industry. Connecting directly with fans cuts out potentially shady middlemen, STIs, and possible abusers. A younger crop of performers will lean towards a situation they’re more in control of, while they enjoy their work.
3 Nigerian OnlyFans creators spoke to me about what it takes to be an adult content creator.
Inyourgutss

What made you start an OnlyFans account?
Inyourgutss: I am always alone so most times I just stand by the mirror and admire myself and take traps. I used to post them on Twitter till a friend of mine told me about an app I could make a lot posting traps on.
How’s it been going so far?
Inyourgutss: It’s been going ok lol, a lot of backlash from Nigerians obviously, some add my OnlyFans up or dm me on Twitter to say mean things. I used to be mad about it till figured people will always talk anyways.
“Just because a girl owns an OnlyFans doesn’t mean she won’t have a life or a career path or whatever, she can do both”
Nigerian Onlyfans Creator, Inyourgutss
How much time do you usually spend on creating content?
Inyourgutss: omg a lot!!!. That’s the thing, people think it’s easy, you just wake up and then post a picture. You’ve gotta know what you’re giving out, plus if you want to earn you actually have to put in the work. Thinking about new edits and poses and investing in lingeries, I could go on but yeah it’s a lot of time.
You mentioned investing in lingerie, are there other things you purchase to improve the quality of your content?
Inyourgutss: I’m gonna get more stuff after the virus but for now, it’s mostly lingerie and a toy I use or my hands. Like I said I didn’t even know I was going to start the site till I did so I wasn’t ready, I just had a lot of lingeries and still do but with time I know I’ll get better.
How much do you make every month on average?
Inyourgutss: Well it’s not something I like to share, but I make pretty much 4 figures in dollars if I post a lot in a month. It mostly just depends on my posts.
How do you deal with people who message you to be mean, or try to shame you?
Inyourgutss: I mostly ignore and block, sometimes I just remind myself that most of them don’t have the range, locking my DMs has helped a lot too.
What’s your response to people who say they can just watch porn for free?
Inyourgutss: Then they should watch the porn, people will still cop my shit and love me regardless.
Do you have any response to people who say that guys who subscribe to Onlyfans are losers/suckers?
Inyourgutss: Calling people losers and suckers for supporting and watching adult content says a lot about them because many of them watch adult content too, the difference is some can pay to watch who they want and not just watch whoever is thrown at them cause it’s free.
What’s the best advice you would give to someone thinking of starting an OnlyFans now?
Inyourgutss: You’ve gotta always promote yourself and stay blind to the critics, people who love you will still love you. People who are going to support you will still do so.

Dawn*
What made you start an OnlyFans account?
Dawn: I started it for the $$$. I enjoy flaunting my body, I’m an exhibitionist. So why not make some money from it?
Do you have to consistently create content to keep your subscribers engaged?
Dawn: Yes. The icing on the cake is teasing to anticipate a new post.
Have you made any purchases in order to make quality content?
Dawn: No I haven’t. I follow a few accounts on here.
Is it any different from the nudes you would normally take, or does it require some extra effort?
Dawn: It takes extra effort. You need to get the angles right, lightning and maybe a few touch-ups. It’s being paid for so you need to make sure your subscribers are pleased (sexually too).
Do you get special requests from your subscribers?
Dawn: Yes and as a matter of fact, I just got one now. They’re called ‘Customs’.
How much do you make every month on average?
Dawn: I started this month and so far over $300.
Have you dealt with creepy subscribers, or someone who has tried to shame you for creating adult content?
Dawn: Yes. My curious cat has suffered thanks to this but I don’t care. They aren’t feeding me. people will always talk, good for them.
What’s your response to people who say they can just watch porn for free?
Dawn: I don’t respond when I see such, I block. If ever I do feel like responding I’ll just tell them, ‘Congratulations’.
What’s the best advice you would give to someone thinking of starting an OnlyFans now?
Dawn: The best advice I’ll give anyone thinking of starting one now, is to own it and be very creative. Men are moved by what they see. If they like it, they’ll come back.
Spoiled Brat*
What made you start an onlyfans account?
Spoiled Brat: On boring days I usually create this content so I thought why not open an OnlyFans and make money off it.
How’s it going so far?
Spoiled Brat: I just got my account confirmed, I haven’t started putting out stuff. I had to use my friend’s address in Canada, OnlyFans doesn’t make enough provisions for a Nigerian. Even the card I added had to be an international card.
When you do start, what sort of content do you plan to make?
Spoiled Brat: As for content I’ll post the type of content I used to post on my burner accounts, and I most likely won’t be showing my face, I’ll wear some mask or something.
Would you be okay with someone in your life subscribing to your OnlyFans?
Spoiled Brat: I don’t think I’d be. Depends on how close I am with the person. If it’s a guy I’m talking to and I like, no I won’t be comfortable with him subscribing.
What would you do to prevent that from happening?
Spoiled Brat: I’m not talking to anyone at the moment so it doesn’t count.
Do you have a goal of how much you’d like to make per month?
Spoiled Brat: No, I don’t, the more the merrier.
What’s your response to people who say they can just watch porn for free?
Spoiled Brat: I low key think they’re right, OnlyFans can be a scam sometimes, you pay and then find out you have to pay more to see what you actually want to see. But you know people like to try out new things, so they should watch porn, curious people with money will still visit OnlyFans.
Do you have any response to people who say that guys who subscribe to OnlyFans are losers/suckers
Spoiled Brat: We’re all creepy in our own ways, and girls subscribe to guys OnlyFans too, so shaming each other doesn’t make sense.
