Undisputedly the worlds’s biggest urban music festival for Africans ‘AfroNation Portugal’ has joined the ongoing list of major concerts and events that have been postponed or canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Before now, fans who already purchased tickets in advance have indulged the organisers in an online rage over their inability to refund ticket money or comment on the state of affairs.
This morning, Afro Nation broke the silence after sharing a statement via its social profiles confirming that the event has been postponed to July 2021. Organisers explained that tickets bought for this year’s event will be valid for next year, categorically stating that there will be no refunds on tickets, however they can be listed for resale.

Festicket, one of Afro Nation’s official ticketing vendor, has stated on its website that refunds will not be issued in line with ’emergency laws’ laid out by the Portuguese government. The site reads that ‘these laws and measures have been put in place in the interest of protecting the many thousands of people who rely on live events’.
But fans aren’t taking this new development likely.
