An evening with the verse writer, Lanaire Aderemi

Lanaire Aderemi is a fast-rising author, poet and spoken word artist from Nigeria. In 2017, when she was only 16, the Verse writer had the gumption to write and publish her first book ‘Of Ivory And Ink‘,a collection of poems written from 2012-2015, covering a wide range of themes such as childhood memories, failure, and loss. If you’ve seen her perform, you can attest to her eloquent and conversational style which resonates around history, politics, feminism, race, religion and other things.

My mirrors and journals have two things in common, reflections and reflecting my medium of self expression, one speaks my thoughts, the other sees my worth.

Lanaire had her poetry show on the 16th of June, in Warwick University in Coventry and also had other poets on stage. Her performance demonstrated a heroine who is present in mind, witty, learned and passionate about using her words to voice out issues that affect people and society. Take time out to watch the first part of her first show, it’s a great one.
