#BestNewMusic: Adekunle Gold’s ‘Mercy,’ 2Baba’s ballad ‘Smile’ + releases from Fave, Skibii & Davido, Ric Hassani, Terry Apala, Victony & more

Adekunle Gold hits the year running with his new groove Mercy, ahead of his 4th studio album Catch Me If You Can. The new single samples Nigerian music icon, Baba Frayo’s Dem Go Dey Pose and is definitely a good follow-up to High. Nigerian superstar 2Baba is back doing what he does best on his new ballad Smile. Skiibbii links with Davido on the remix to Baddestboy and both don’t disappoint, giving stellar performances on an already hit track.

Other notable releases this week come from Fave, Ric Hassani, Papisnoop & Psycho YP, Terry Apala, Asake, Dj Boat & Victony, NAWMS, and Stefflon Don.

Friday has become the de-facto release day in the music industry, a plethora of tracks vie to become the soundtrack of that weekend and beyond. Sifting through it all every Friday morning can be overwhelming for many listeners, so every week we compile some highlights.
