A new generation of Afropop artists is growing, based outside the country these diasporan artists are creating and shaping Afropop melodies from their early Nigerian influences and heritage along with the influence from their environment and music in the diaspora. Serving as both ambassadors pushing the Afrobeats to the world movement in their respective countries, and creatives seeking acceptance for their art.
Chimzy is one of these new diasporan AfroPop artists. Growing up in Abuja before having to move to the USA where he currently lives, his broad range of experiences and influences from both his perspective as a Nigerian and his new Western way of life, Chimzy has been able to create a fusion of genres as his definitive style that allows him to caters to all his audience.

Formula is the perfect song to catch a vibe to. On the track, he explains his interactions with his female lover as trade by barter, as her bodily features make up the formula that enthralls him and leads him to serenade her with lavish praises.
His deeply drawn and rough vocals over a mix of piano chords, afro saxophone melodies and uptempo drum loops makes Formula an Afropop single that gives the soft bop of an easy summer vibe.
With the release of his second EP titled Chimzy Vol. 1, including lead single No Change and Ijoya featuring PsychoYP – which was a nostalgic remake of Weird MC’s Ijoya – Chimzy has been able to kickstart his career and Formula is an indication that there’s much more to come.
