In a world still rediscovering itself post-chaos, Ghanaian fashion label Complex Department unveils a collection that speaks directly to transformation, healing, and liberation. Titled “Renaissance”, the Spring/Summer 2025–2026 collection is a powerful nod to cultural rebirth — a new chapter not just for the brand, but for African fashion as a whole.
At the helm is Atanko Davidson, Creative Director and visionary behind Complex Department. Known for blending contemporary silhouettes with traditional African craft, Davidson’s latest collection stretches even further, into emotion, identity, and evolution. Renaissance is more than a seasonal offering; it’s a creative reset.

“We’ve entered an era where creatives — especially from the continent — are reclaiming their power and rewriting their narratives,” Davidson shares. “Renaissance is about that shift. It’s about becoming whole again, on our own
terms.”
The collection explores gender fluidity, strength, and sensuality through a series of bold, elegant looks. Each garment is tailored to move with the wearer, creating room for confidence and vulnerability in equal measure. While rooted in West African textures and craftsmanship, the silhouettes feel modern — even futuristic. It’s a visual love letter to the
empowered woman and the expressive man, echoing themes of balance and duality.

Signature pieces include draped skirts that flow across bodies of any gender, structured tops that hug the torso like armor, and detailed finishing that speaks to the quiet luxury of thoughtful design. The palette dances between soft earth tones and striking monochromes, reflective of light emerging from shadow.

Beyond the clothing, Renaissance carries a philosophy. It asks us to lean into our own transformation, to embrace the parts of ourselves we once dimmed, and to wear them proudly. The message is clear: You are allowed to evolve. In fact, you must.
Complex Department’s Renaissance will debut in an intimate, exhibition-style presentation. A conscious departure from the traditional runway, and a testament to the brand’s growing identity as more than fashion, but as art, culture, and a movement.

For Atanko Davidson and Complex Department, this is not just a collection. It’s a statement. A promise. And a return.
