This project should be considered as one of Falz’s overarching albums, it is special, highly conceptualized and tows towards unravelling the many sides of the artiste. “Bahd,” is a qualitative LP, with several sets of polished records earmarking Falz’s artistic duality as he sings and raps eloquently.
His previous album in 2019 “Moral Instruction,” was more of a conscious project than the current, it was ranged with songs that leaped strong messages. He was expansive, talked Nigerian corruption, prostitution, crime, societal issues, internet fraud, injustice and more. 2022, he arrived with his often love expressed, persona and egoistic fifth LP “Bahd” after he has consecrated himself on pop culture spaces, alongside a variety of record hit singles like ‘Bop Daddy’ assisted by Ms Banks, ‘Body Language’ assisted by Ajebo Hustlers and lots more including his movie appearances in the 2019 ‘Merry Men 2,’ 2020 ‘Quam’s Money,’ and more in retrospect.
Falz has returned, fresher, softer and more of an experienced music maker by cherry picking the perfect creators to properly deliver his B side which he unveils with ‘Bahd.’ He is confident on most tracks, only a few songs were drapped, however the album was a consistent show of Falz’s other side and how he have tend to become a perfectionist in singing and rapping nicely. The most astounding tracks are “Beautiful Sunflower,” the profound love, pop infused song ballad assisted by the Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage. Including the Afrobeats influenced “Parampe” which Falz cocktailed the sounds and texture of the Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti.
Track 11 “Roger Milla” is another stand out and a charismatic record with the Influence of L.A.X alongside his frequent record producer — Clemzy. Falz, stacks neat flows together and with the assist of LAX’s chorus and his appealing hooks, the record was properly positioned and could become one of revelers most cherished berries. It is an outstanding joint as well as BNXN’s effort remarked as the project’s finishing closer tagged “Ice Cream,” dished earlier this year and was introduced with so much resounding effect. The Cavemen, had a special joint alongside Falz, with the duo’s journey revolutionizing Highlife which has progressed richly and it is the percularity that shines through this track titled — “Woman,” which alludes the African women and places so much value on them.
Timaya and Boy Spyce had a captivating input alongside Falz on “Inside,” which was dreamy, as much as the chemistry was shared equally amongst the trio. “Another Me,” was a perfect opener Falz used as conduit to talk self, elevate his persona as he claims he is the one the boys are trying to be, of course currently his style has become chic and fancy enough to be emulated by other creators in the soundscape. Meanwhile, the sounds on “Another Me” is more like an alternative rock on a mild tempo range, as track two “All Night” becomes fast paced and progressive as he talked sex, his woman, love and more.
Chike’s effort on “Kneel Down” was practical and richly induced, it is one of those special love songs that comes with this project and was also particular about unravelling Falz’s B side. “Kneel Down” is spontaneous and is served while a man begs his lover and want to confirm if when he kneels down everything would be alright. While “Pull Up,” was good as well, “Gentleman” was offered with a different style and range though it’s theme was nicely orchestrated, “Tender Love” as well. However, this three solo tracks had Falz singing confidently which was good, and is a reflection of his other sides yet, his B Side on this album shined through “Beautiful Sunflower,” “Parampe,” “Kneel Down,” alongside “Woman.” Meaning that, Bahd, is just another side of Falz, a conceptualized part that talks on woman, ego, sex, and more compared to his 2019 LP — “Moral Instruction.”
