December is finally here, and with it Mariah Carey’s annual bag, a plethora of ugly Christmas sweaters, and mouth-watering sales. But there’s also new music. Oh, lest we forget the music. Here’s a list of new releases you may have missed
Unveiled – Flohio
British-Nigerian rapper Flohio intends to end the year on a high note, free from panic or pain.
A previously released single off her debut mixtape No Panic No Pain, Unveiled still retains its potency, showing Flo’s intent on taking the rap game by storm.
The song features heavily self-assured lyrics, with its catchy chorus serving as an incantation of sorts, backed by an ethereal beat from renowned producer duo, Take A Daytrip.
Mystery Girl – Johnny Drille
As Christmas approaches, our likelihood of relating to Mystery Girl intensifies, and that’s an exciting thought.
Mavin Records signee Johnny drille chronicles the experience of encountering a mysterious girl on a night out, employing falsetto vocals and an array of instruments ranging from the sax to an electric guitar to get his point across. It’s an immaculate blend of sounds, one that is sure to be an earworm for weeks to come.
Do It – Trill Tega
If this year has shown us anything about Trill Tega, it’s that he’s consistent. Off his second mixtape of the year, we have psychedelic single, Do It.
Supported by a Comethazine type beat, Tega urges us to Do It, a la Nike. It’s an energetic tune that gives the little dose of motivation we need in these tough times.
Dwmt – Savayo
This year we’ve that time with our loved ones is important, and it’s something we just celebrated this past Thanksgiving. Savayo expresses that sentiment beautifully on his new single Dwmt.
Dwmt, which stands for Don’t waste my time, illustrates the frustrations and uncertainty surrounding budding relationships. This isn’t a foreign concept to most of us.
Savayo communicates this to us with slick vocals, coupled with laid-back production.
