Juliet Ariel’s “Wish You Were Here” video chronicles falling out of love

Off the success of “Wish You Were Here,” multinational songstress and producer Juliet Ariel releases a captivating visual to the single featuring LayLizzy. Directed and edited by Juliet Ariel and Australian producer Leon Seenandan, Wish You Were Here sums-up falling in love with the wrong person, leaving you stunned and muddled.

It’s an emotional Afro-Latin club ballad narrating the story of a dazed and confused lover, Juliet Ariel’s pitiful and suave voice blends seamlessly into the video shot by Nigerian-Australian Cinematographer Darlington Peters and Mozambican Cinematographer “Bill Boy Shot It.”

Wish You Were Here is about how falling for the wrong person can leave you dazed and confused. Rather than moving on, you still reminisce about the time you had it together while expressing feelings about the pain you felt when they broke my heart.

Juliet, born in D.R Congo of African and Portuguese descent, employs her diversity in the song as she tries to portray long-distance relationships during the lockdown. Juliet’s scenes were shot at a private beach in Sydney, Australia, while Laylizzy’s scenes were shot in Mozambique on different sides of the world. The video is defined by a mesmerizing mix of rhythm and emotion.

The close-up beauty shots of Juliet with glowing skin on the beach devastated by her loved one show anguish long-distance relationships suffer as Laylizzy employs his bilingual capability rapping in English and Portuguese of how he has been up to no good.

You know you want the honesty, trust, and respect, but what drives you toward this bad guy is your desire to be free from being a good girl.” –
