There’s something absorbing about creatives of nowadays, that we cannot afford to explain. Truth is, there are never lines around their blue-sky ideals and comfort zones don’t last too long; happens multiple times in a creative journey but today’s creatives see it as a break for refueling/plotting/scheming and all that intervention. This isn’t the first time I’m writing about the Verse Writer or her works. This time it is her conscious exploration to pass her message in new mediums that strikes me, so hard. Yesterday, she put out a 5 track EP in collaboration with UK based rapper, King Solomon ’Ancient History.’ The project explores a myriad of themes such as the marginalisation of african feminist history, police brutality, white privilege as well as black women’s resistance.
Lanaire explains that ‘at a time were identity, race and politics are as important as ever, we hope this EP helps move certain conversations and minds in the right direction.’ We had the chance to listen to it a few months back and it’s a 5 star recommendation.
