Just like Guardians of the galaxy and Firefly, Nnedi Okorafor’s BINTI is about to tap into the league of Futuristic books-turned-movies. The award-winning Nigerian-American author’s novel, a three part science fiction short story is currently being developed into a tv series premiering on Hulu. The book is a recipient of both a Hugo and a Nebula prize for Best Novella, which are awarded to outstanding books in the science fiction genre.
Binti is set in a technologically and socially advanced future. It tells the story of a brilliant and rebellious young woman who is destined to lead her community in Africa. But when she’s admitted to the most prestigious academy in the galaxy, she chooses a different path and, rejecting her family’s wishes, leaves her community behind in favor of the starry skies.
