Quadri Aruna will represent Nigeria at the Liebherr 2018 Men’s World Cup

Quadri Aruna, a Nigerian table tennis player who represented the country at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics – where he reached the quarter-finals will represent Nigeria at the Liebherr 2018 Men’s World Cup.

Quadri didn’t qualify for the tournament after he suffered a 3-4 loss to Egypt’s Omar Assar at the 2018 Top 16 Africa Cup held in Kenya, however, in July, he managed to overtake Assar as the number one in Africa. The tournament kicks off on October 19 and he’ll be competing alongside 19 other players including Omar Assar and China’s duo of Ma Long and Fan Zhendong; Brazil’s Hugo Calderano and Gustavo Tsuboi; Germany’s Timo Boll and Dimitrij Ovtcharov.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games Silver medallist has started preparations for the tournament.
