With a growing Nigerian diaspora pushing Nigerian music into different spaces around the world, musicians in these communities attempt to create music from their experiences and influences from Nigeria and where they currently live.

Tonero is one of these acts making music influenced by his background and experiences. Based in Dublin Ireland, he has been making music as a singer/songwriter and producer since 2017 when he dropped his debut project, Ajna.

Since then he has released a string of singles, including Don’t Go, Missed Calls, and others. For his 2021 debut single he teams up with Nigerian based producer, TrillXoe, on Clementine.  Clementine captures the thrill of being in love and the angst and uncertainty that comes with love.

In under 2 minutes, Clementine serves as a double-entendre for a sweet citrus fruit that is loved but advised not to consume too much of, and also a song that showcases Tenor’s vocal ability laced over TrillXoe’s frenetic yet haunting trap backdrop with heavy-hitting drums.
