In the early hours of Tuesday, we reported that Ugandan musician and presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi fondly known as Bobi Wine was arrested after police invaded his consultation forum in Kampala. According to Ugandan authorities, he was arrested for “failing to comply with the Public Order Management Act and Electoral Commission guidelines”. However, we can now confirm reports that Bobi Wine has been released a few hours ago, and has even vowed to unseat President Yoweri Museveni.
Our challenge is we are dealing with a government that does not respect the law. We are telling President Museveni and his police to respect the law and the ground should be leveled.” He ended by saying, “We are taking you on in 2021 and we are winning.
South Africa’s opposition party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also expressed their disappointment through a recently released statement wherein it’s leaders condemned Wine’s arrest and likened Museveni to the late Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. It’s not certain what the future holds for Bobi but we’re definitely rooting for him.
