The world has been getting crazier with each new day in the last few months, and while staying updated is crucial, it’s also important to remember to take care of yourself and unplug from the seemingly endless awful news if you need to. Music is one of the few things that have kept our spirits up and sustained our sense of community.
In spite of the current state of affairs around the world, artists have continued to put out new music to help us process everything better, or simply take our mind off things. It’s also completely understandable if you haven’t been able to keep up with the new releases, given everything that’s been going on in the last few weeks.

Loti & KD – Sins & Scenes EP
The scintillating duo consisting of R&B artist Loti and 44dbcollective producer KD, have finally released their long-awaited EP, Sins & Scenes. The infectious 5-tracker is a nostalgic ode to the Lagos nightlife. Drafting in artists like Hyphen, Buju, and Fasina, the project tells stories of youthful exuberance certain to reignite your teenage fantasies.

Tochi Bedford – Eternal Mob
44dbcollective producer is certainly one to watch. Earlier in the year, he dished out hits to artists like Odunsi. Now focused on his career as a solo artist, he has finally released his heavily anticipated EP, Eternal Mob. The 7 track project hosts a stellar class of guest features ranging from fellow 44db producer KD, to dndsection, AYLØ, and Cruel Santino.

Aussie Maze ft Loti & Shaun Mbah – ‘Hands in the Sky’
Following his earlier release in the year, ‘Aria’, Aussie Maze has teamed up with Loti & Shaun Mbah to serve up this relaxing, mid-tempo number, ‘Hands in the Sky’. The track finds the trio trading melodic verses on pleasant times with a love interest. ‘Shawty spend time with me/We got what we need/Won’t you lay with me/Feel the summer breeze’, they sing, depicting a romantic summery day with a lover.

Lemyang – Goosebumps
UK-based singer, Lemyang began the year with a string of releases including songs like ‘Fight’, ‘Compose’, and ‘Body’ which featured Terry Apala. For his latest offering, he serves up ‘Goosebumps’, a dance-inducing Afrobeat number on which he plays on the familiar trope of the honeymoon stage in a relationship. ‘Goosebumps that’s how I feel/Body dey do me … baby all for you’, he confesses, filled with deep-seated admiration for his love interest as he promises to go above and beyond to prove his love.

MTG 9boy – ‘L.O.L (Life on the Line)’
In light of the recent uprising stemmed from the racial based violence across the pond, Black people everywhere have taken to different media to express their activism. LA-based Nigerian fashion influencer MTG has decided to play his part with the release of a politically-charged number, ‘L.O.L (Life on the Line)’. The upbeat track finds him penning an ode to the Black man as he recounts tales of hardship he’s faced based on the color of his skin. ‘Black man, Black man, what you gonna do?/Black man, Black man, they wanna see you lose’, he sings, urging Black people everywhere to step up to the plate and put their best foot forward, despite any opposition against them.
